1. Growing a Scientist for preschoolers ages 2 1/2 – 5 with their adults (required). Meets every other week. Participants make discoveries about science by questioning, experiencing, and investigating.

2. Science to Grow On, Grades K - 3; Meets every other Saturday 9:30–11am. Grow your child’s love for science! In Science to Grow On™, children make discoveries by questioning, experiencing and investigating. Explora educators engage children and their adults in age-appropriate activities incorporating science, art and fun! Each session focuses on a different theme. Adult participation encouraged but not required.

3. Engineering Investigators, Saturdays 9:30am. Participants investigate how things move and use that knowledge to build a series of connected actions! Meets every other week. Adults welcome but not required.

4. Home School Explorations Series, Grades: 6-9 (11-15 years). Explora members: $105; Non-members $120. Explora’s Home School Explorations Series offers your child a semester of weekly, hourlong experiential science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) programs. These are materials-rich classes that actively engage every child in inquiry activities. In these classes, children will make discoveries in STEAM through questioning, experiencing and investigating. Children will be encouraged to build their own knowledge and cultivate skills such as observation, creativity, critical thinking, cooperative learning, communication and innovation as they explore a different topic each week.

From learning programming and technical writing to building exhibit booths and preparing presentations, students develop a wide range of real-world STEM skills. Along the way, they’ll have the opportunity to compete with other teams at the local, state, national, and even international levels—gaining experience, confidence, and a passion for innovation. Financial Aid Available. When joining the competitive teams, team members are required to attend competitions.

Sports

Albuquerque Iwama Aikido nonprofit community Dojo - Children's AIKIDO Summer Special, 435 Adams Street SE ABQ, NM 87108. Join Albuquerque's nonprofit community Dojo for a two month summer immersion in what Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, calls "The Art of Peace." Our Summer Community Special includes two months of lessons (June and July) plus your student's uniform Gi, all for $75. Classes will be twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday, from 4:30 – 5:15. Children ages six and up are welcome. Aikido is sometimes called the non-violent martial art or even moving meditation. It is suitable both for the active child and for the child who would like to become more active. Aikido develops coordination, self-confidence, poise, and discipline in a friendly, noncompetitive atmosphere. Aikido is an effective martial art that also applies to non-physical situations. Students learn not to escalate confrontations but rather try to resolve them in a manner that will reduce future negative physical or verbal encounters.
